10:09 pm - rant
I absolutely abhor netspeak...it has got to be the most annoying thing ever invented. Ok, so some stuff is useful and I'm ashamed to admit that I use it on occasion, i.e. "brb" and "ttyl". But stuff like "idk", "omg", and "hagd" drive me absolutely insane. Why can't people talk in complete sentences anymore?? It just struck me recently how much netspeak is like newspeak from 1984. I guess that's fitting since the purpose of netspeak is also to destroy the english language...

I got a new computer, and it's working yay! Turns out that even after being sent to the manufacturer, my old computer still came back not working. Best Buy just decided to exchange my computer for me...smart idea on their part methinks.

This week is my last week of work for the summer, and I am so happy about that. I might have to go in a couple of days next week though because I have to train the girl who's going to take my place if she doesn't come in this week. Next Thursday my family is going on our family vacation to India :D We are stopping in Paris for two days, which I'm really excited about since I've never visited. I've already made a list of places I want to go scope out while I'm there.

I tried Peruvian food for the first time this weekend...loved it! The only weird thing about the entire meal was that one of the appetizer plates came with cow's heart, which I didn't have the heart to try, hahaha pun intended.

11:36 am - more ramblings
Best Buy called and said my computer was back from the manufacturer, yay!! It took them long enough...Being computerless is not fun. I did have an offer to borrow a laptop from this guy that I'm sort of dating, but I thought that would be sort of weird so I politely declined.

I'm going home this weekend, which is very exciting. My parents are throwing my grandparents some sort of small party, so they wanted me home. I'm not complaining...who knows when I'll be able to go home next?

In an attempt to improve my Spanish, I've started reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in Spanish. Let me tell you, it is quite challenging! I can't believe my Spanish has deteriorated so much over the past few years...

Work still sucks, but whatever. I guess all that matters is that I'm making some money this summer.

12:44 pm - ramblings at work
So I'm sort of bored by the research that I'm doing, but I got to say that the people in my lab are awesome! Today, we had a whole lengthy discussion about Harry Potter, and what our thoughts about the next book were. One of the guys kept insisting that he thought that Dumbledore was not dead and that Snape was evil, but I disagreed on both counts :D On top of that, someone is always blasting music, and everyone sings and dances along...it's exciting :)

I just finished Atlas Shrugged, and thought it was excellent, although it definitely deteriorated for me towards the end. I also don't know if I agree with her completely on some of the points she makes.

This weekend I'm going to New York to celebrate my best friend's birthday with her. I'm really excited because we're going to go to a play Friday night, then to the beach on Saturday (hopefully it won't rain), and then we'll run a 5K on Sunday. My best friend also bought me a gift certificate for a free massage (which I am in definite need of), so my shoulders will be knot free after this weekend :D

So I just bought a new computer about 3 weeks ago, and it's already giving me the blue screen of death, which is incidentally the reason that I had to get a new computer in the first place! I've already had to take it in twice. The first time, they altered some of the power settings and said it was good as new, but it still kept crashing. Now they're telling me that my motherboard is defective, which I don't get considering that it's a brand new computer. Basically they've sent it back to the manufacturer, so I'm computerless for 2 weeks :(

Ugh...I totally don't understand guys at all. They don't make any sense! When you think things are going horribly, the guy thinks things are great, and when you think things are going well, they don't share your opinion. Someone needs to write a book or something...blah.

8:12 pm - updates
Ok so I'm finally off for the summer and have had a chance to let the rest of my life catch up with me. I've already started my summer job, which I sort of regret because I could definitely have used more time off. I'm doing research in a lab, getting paid very little, and remembering why it is that I didn't want to go into research in the first place.

On the plus side, there's a lot of down time in the lab, which I've been using to catch up on reading. I'm currently reading Atlas Shrugged, which I've wanted to read forever, but have never had the time to get around to it.

Over the weekend I ran in a 5K in Washington D.C. It was painfully hot outside, and I definitely wanted to stop several times because of the heat. I really want to run a lot this summer, and perhaps train for a 10K. It probably will not happen because my body is not made to run long distances, but oh well.

Everything is pretty uneventful, but the monotony of it all is sort of refreshing. On the plus side, my friend dragged me to get my palms read, and I was told that I would meet my sold mate in December...one can only hope.

So I went to the Guster concert last night...it was amazing! I think I am officially in love with them. They also sang my favorite song of theirs (Keep it Together), and it was even better live. The only weird thing was that I went with this guy whom I really don't know that well, and it was sort of awkward, especially since he didn't really seem to be into the music. By the end though, I stopped caring and was just dancing and singing along. Of course everyone was also getting high since it was 4/20 and all...

So I had my first day of relaxation in a looong time after a string of really bad exams. Watching tv can be very therapeutic. I actually woke up today at 8:05 am for my 9:00 exam...not good. I slept through my alarm, which is very strange considering that I'm normally a light sleeper. I'm very proud of myself though. I was able to take a shower, eat breakfast, take a practice exam during the commute to school, and even make it to my exam 10 minutes early! If only I were always so efficient...

9:56 pm - update!
Hey everyone,

I know that this journal has been totally neglected so I decided to finally update after a loooong time. Let's see...I've started my first year at med school...which means that I am pretty much a slave. I moved to Boston in August, and into my new apartment, which I really love. I don't love the price, but I guess I was expecting to pay that much living in Boston.

I'm living with two other girls from undergrad, which worked out really nice. One of them was actually my roommate from undergrad, so we're pretty good friends. The other girl I don't really know that well, but she seems pretty nice. The only bad thing about her is that she and her boyfriend are super loud (and at all times of the day). In the shower, the bedroom, everywhere! Oh well, I guess at least she's having fun?

I'm off now for 2 weeks for winter break, yay!!! I'm going to do absolutely nothing, and love it :D

Ok, so I got my first speeding ticket ever :( I was going 40 miles per hour when the speed limit was 30. I was sooo mad! Everyone else around me was going just as fast, grrr. My ticket was only $40 though, so it could be worse.

I also fainted at work today. It was so bizarre because I've never fainted before like that. I have no idea what caused it either. I was basically walking in a customer and I got light-headed and then my vision blurred and I was out! Even after all that, I stayed at work and finished my shift, haha. Hopefully the paycheck will make it all worth it...

3:21 am - massive update
I just got back from my little mini vacation to Philly! It was sooo much fun. It was a reunion for all of graduates (yes, I realize that we just graduated two months ago, but that's not too soon to have one). I got there on Friday and stayed until Monday.

My flight on Friday was so annoying. It was supposed to leave at 6:30 in the morning, but ended up leaving at 9:00 am. One of the computers was out, so they had to call maintenance in to fix it. Mostly that just consisted of them turning the plane on and off in the hopes that the computer would somehow work when the plane was switched back on, argh. When I finally got to Charlotte, I had already missed my connecting flight to Philly. The next flight was scheduled for 2:40, but didn't end up leaving until 4:30! I finally reached Philly around 6:30 pm, when I should have landed around 2:30 :(

The reunion itself was a blast though. I really hope all of us can plan another one soon :D We went out to dinner a bunch, to some of the old bars we used to go to during school, and just hung out a lot. The hotel we were in also had a pool, so we took advantage of that, hehe. I definitely should have done a lot more in Philly while I was still in college. It's a really great city, and I didn't realize how much I'd missed it until I was back in the city. It was also a lot of fun being able to go out. The problem this summer has been that I've been at home which means A)Annoying parents who want to know when you'll be home B)Living in the suburbs, which means that you have to drive to get to go anywhere fun and C)Owning a car that's stick which means that no one else but you can drive it home in the chance that you do get inebriated.

I am also scheduled to leave for Boston on August 9th...I'm so excited!! It will be great moving out of my house into the new apartment and shopping for new furniture and all that fun stuff :D I don't start school until the 21st either, so I'll definitely have some time to explore the city and be all touristy for awhile!

Yesterday work was awful! I had a double shift, so I had to do both lunch and dinner, meaning I was there from about 11 am to 9 pm straight. Not only did I burn both of my thumbs using a lighter (I don't know how smokers never burn themselves), but I also burned my stomach. I mean, what kind of an idiot manages to burn themselves on their stomach?? All I can say is at least I made good money...

After work I watched Superman Returns. I must say I didn't really have any high expectations, but it was surprisingly good. Kevin Spacey was awesome, and the new superman isn't too bad looking either :D The only thing was that it was sort of long, but after watching Pirates, this was a breeze to sit through.

Ok so the fireworks situation last night was sort of disappointing. It started raining heavily around 7:00 so it didn't really look like there would be any professional fireworks. So, all of us went to walmart to just buy some fireworks to do on our own. After we get back, we find out that all fireworks are banned this year, including sparklers :( I don't understand why the hell fireworks were even being sold if all of them were banned this year! In the end, we just ended up renting a movie and playing cards, grrr.

phew! So after 5 days in Boston, my roommate and I finally found an apartment for us to live in this year! I've come to realize that I absolutely HATE apartment searching. I mean, looking at the apartments is fun, but what sucks is all the waiting, the tension, and the paperwork.

The apartment we got is super nice, though a little bit more than what we were willing to spend, but oh well. The area is really nice too, and I'm sooo excited that I'll get to live in Boston :D

Ok so my parents are throwing my brother a big graduation party. I just found out, however, that they invited one of my ex-boyfriends, whom I haven't seen or spoken to for about 3 years (since I've been gone for college). Things ended kind of oddly when we broke up, so I'm not really looking forward to seeing him again because it's going to be sooo awkward :(

On the bright side, my new job is going well. It's really easy and good money and above all very part-time, so I'm happy :D I'm also going to Boston in a few weeks to look for housing for the fall, yay!!!!

My graduation was yesterday! It was raining really hard the first part of the mornring, but by the afternoon the sun was out, which was nice. I can't believe the four years went by so quickly. It was SO hard saying goodbye to all my friends, especially my roommates. I guess that's what aim and email are for :(

I also decided on Tufts for med school. My mom wasn't too happy about that, but at the end she said she that it was my decision to make and that she respected that. My roommate Divya also officially got into BU, which means we can room together next year, yay!

Ok so I have to decide what med school I want to go to by May 15th. Is it bad that I still have no idea where I want to go?? I was leaning towards Tufts, but my mom REALLY wants me to go to U of Chicago. I didn't really like U of Chicago all that much though, but I suppose I could probably be happy anywhere I go. She has a lot of reasons, and I feel like since she's paying for half my tuition, I sort of have to take what she says into account? She's been calling me up everyday too to try and convince me to choose that school, and this is the thing that sort of bugs me about her...she's very pushy and gets too involved in my life. I feel like this is my decision to make, so she should leave me alone and let me think things through on my own. When she bugs me like this, I'm almost tempted to pick the opposite of what she wants, which is definitely not a good strategy in deciding something.

I hate when people take advantage of me just because they know that I'll put up with it...especially when they are supposed to be my friends. I won't go into details, but how they acted just made me feel really really crappy today. Maybe I'm being too sensitive or something, and I'll probably be fine with everything again by tomorrow, but I really don't think I deserve this.
